Megan is the ultimate hype woman and a lovable kind of chaotic, the friend who can turn absolutely anything into a laugh until you cry moment. They have spent years gossiping, laughing at how ridiculous they were in their uni days, and collecting endless funny memories, including the legendary prank they pulled on the boys in their friend group.
But beneath all the fun, Megan has always been the friend who truly shows up. She listens, supports, and loves fiercely, the person Nicole can rely on through every season of life.
And then there is Megan in real life, an absolute force of nature. She is an epic conservationist who rides horses, raises baby antelope, and protects rhinos. A total badass with the biggest heart.
Nicole knew from those early university days that Megan was not just a friend, but her friend, the one who would be standing beside her on the biggest day of her life. Having her as Maid of Honour was the easiest decision she has ever made.
Cindy
Nicole and Cindy have been best friends since Nicole was six years old, a friendship that has grown and evolved through every stage of life. From the very beginning, Cindy was Nicole’s right hand, her constant, and her safe place.
Their favourite childhood moments were spent watching Barbie movies, and to this day they can still duet songs from those films without missing a beat. As kids, they were wonderfully silly, spending hours playing Peter Pan, with Cindy as Wendy and Nicole as Tinkerbell, memories that will always hold a special place in Nicole’s heart.
From endless sleepovers to growing up
completely joined at the hip, Cindy has been there through it all. Nicole loves her deeply and treasures the bond they have built over a lifetime of shared memories, laughter, and unconditional love.
Nicole was Cindy’s Maid of Honour, and she could never imagine Cindy not being here on this day. Having her by Nicole’s side feels as natural as it did all those years ago, two little girls playing make believe and dreaming together.
Terri
Terri has been Nicole’s sister in law for over ten years, but in every way that matters, she has been a real sister. From the very beginning, she welcomed Nicole with open arms and has always been someone she could turn to, no matter what.
Terri is the kind of person who truly listens and always has thoughtful advice to offer. She has been there through Nicole’s sad moments, heartbreaks, breakups, and all the growing pains that come with life, often giving the kind of guidance that stays with you long after the conversation ends.
During university breaks, Nicole lived with Terri and her brother for a while and was welcomed not as a guest, but as family, treated like her own sister in every sense of the word. That kindness and warmth is something Nicole will always be grateful for.
Terri is incredibly special, endlessly supportive, and deeply loved. Nicole is so thankful to have her in her life and would like to formally congratulate her for the incredible achievement of taming her brother.
Samantha
Nicole met Samantha when they started working at the same lodge, and from day one it was clear they were going to be trouble together, the very best kind. Sam is an all or nothing friend, loyal to the core, always ready to hype Nicole up, and absolutely willing to dislike whoever Nicole dislikes with zero questions asked.
Some of their favourite memories were made on game drives together, laughing, chatting, and completely confusing guests who were convinced they were sisters. But the moment that truly shaped their friendship was when Sam stood firmly beside Nicole through a rough breakup, keeping her sane with unwavering loyalty, kindness, and fierce protectiveness.
Sam has a rare way of always caring deeply and wanting only the very best for Nicole, no matter the season or circumstance.
Sam is the kind of friend who shows up fully, the one who buys two birthday cakes just to make sure you feel celebrated, the one who shares your favourite colours, your sense of humour, and all the small things that make a friendship feel like home.
And of course, there is their iconic inside joke, Sam’s famous show me your teeth test, because if you know Sam, you know a man’s smile is the ultimate dealbreaker.

Minna
Nicole met Minna through gaming and instantly got that feeling of meeting one of those people you just have to be friends with. From the very first moment, Minna’s voice on the Discord channel had a way of warming you up and making everything feel easier, even in the middle of intense games.
Their friendship was built through gaming, late nights, teamwork, and endless laughs, but it quickly grew into so much more. Over time, it became about real catch ups, opening up about life, and sharing everything with complete transparency.
What Nicole values most about Minna is her brutal honesty and the way she approaches life with such clarity and heart.
Minna is truly kind and sweet, and there is just something about her that naturally draws people in. She has a way of making you feel seen, understood, and supported without even trying. She is Nicole’s Slytherin sister, her biggest cheerleader, and in gaming terms, very proudly, Nicole’s wife.
Michelle
Nicole and Michelle became great friends after Gavin accidentally knocked on her door instead of another neighbour, a happy accident that turned into something truly special. From that moment on, they became absolute soulmates, the kind of friends who think alike, feel alike, and somehow always know exactly what the other is about to say.
They cannot go a single day without talking to each other, whether it is long chats, voice notes, or quick check ins that turn into hour long conversations. They shop together, share everything, and are so joined at the hip that when they are not together, they are usually trading and swapping clothes.
Michelle is the voice of reason when Nicole needs grounding, but she can just as easily be the life of the party. She is always there when Nicole needs advice, needs to talk, or simply needs someone by her side. No matter the moment, Michelle shows up with honesty, laughter, and unwavering support.
Michelle is the kind of friend who just fits. Their friendship is effortless, full of love, understanding, and that rare connection where you never have to explain yourself. Nicole cannot imagine her life without her, or this day without her right by her side.
Danielle
Nicole and Danielle met at university and quickly became inseparable, forming the iconic trio with Megan that carried them through some of the wildest years of their lives.
Danielle may go a little ghosty these days, but she is always around when it truly matters, the kind of friend who shows up without needing to be asked.
Danielle is pure fiery energy, equal parts fun and fearless, but when nights out call for it, she can instantly switch into full mother hen mode, making sure everyone gets home safely. Most of their second year of university was spent out clubbing almost every weekend, creating the kind of memories that only survive because you lived them together.
She is the undeniable badass of the trio, strong, bold, and unapologetically herself. Danielle is also Nicole’s Supernatural series buddy, ensuring that no scary episode ever has to be watched alone.
No matter how much time passes, their bond remains rooted in laughter, loyalty, and a shared history that will always connect them. Nicole could not imagine her story without Danielle in it.
Monique
Monique is Gavin’s sister, and Nicole truly cannot imagine this day without her by their side. From the very first moment Gavin brought Nicole home to meet his family, Monique has been nothing but kind, welcoming, and endlessly supportive.
Her wise guidance and in depth conversations are always deeply appreciated. Monique has a way of offering perspective that feels thoughtful, honest, and grounding, and Nicole has learned so much from her over the years.
She has also, very generously, taught Nicole a thing or two about managing her brother, a skill Monique has clearly perfected over a lifetime. Gavin can be very different, and watching the dynamic between him and Monique has been both educational and entertaining.
Their relationship as brother and sister is truly beautiful, full of respect, understanding, and love.
Nicole values Monique’s friendship within their group so deeply and truly admires the woman she is. Having her in their lives is something Nicole is incredibly grateful for.

Barend
Barend and Gavin met through Laurika, who had been a close friend of Gavin’s since their school days. When Laurika began her relationship with Barend, she introduced the two of them, and what started as a simple introduction quickly turned into a meaningful and lasting friendship.
Over the years, their friendship grew naturally into the kind of bond that is built on trust, honesty, and shared life experiences. Through the many seasons of life — the highs, the challenges, the moments of uncertainty, and the victories worth celebrating — they have consistently been there for each other.
Barend has always been someone Gavin could rely on. He brings a calm and steady presence, the kind of person who listens carefully, offers thoughtful advice, and helps bring clarity when things feel overwhelming. Whether it was navigating life decisions, working through growing pains, or simply sharing a conversation that made everything feel a little lighter, Barend has always been there with wisdom, patience, and genuine care.
Friendships like this are not built overnight. They are formed through years of shared memories, honest conversations, laughter, and mutual respect. Over nearly a decade of friendship, Barend has proven time and again that he is someone Gavin can trust completely.
So when the time came to choose the people who would stand beside him on one of the most important days of his life, there was never any doubt. Having Barend by his side on this day is a reflection of the friendship they have built and the many years of support, guidance, and brotherhood they have shared.
Jeandre
Jeandre is Nicole’s brother and happens to be the same age as Gavin, which made it easy for the two of them to connect from the very beginning. From the moment they met, there was an immediate sense of familiarity between them. Jeandre had always hoped that one day he would gain a brother-in-law he could share a proper beer and braai with, someone who would fit naturally into the family. As it turned out, Gavin was exactly that person.
Growing up, Nicole and Jeandre shared a very close bond. Through everything, Nicole always knew one thing for certain, Jeandre would be there for her no matter what. His loyalty and protectiveness have always been part of who he is, and he has never been afraid to stand up for the people he loves.
Not long after Nicole and Gavin started dating, there was one evening that would become a story they still laugh about today. During a slightly drunken get-together, both Gavin and Jeandre mysteriously disappeared for a while. When they eventually returned, Jeandre said something to Nicole that left her very confused at the time about what the two of them had been talking about.
About a month later, Jeandre came to Nicole unexpectedly. He was emotional, hugged her tightly, and quietly said something she would never forget, “This is the man you will marry.”
Even then, when everything was still new, Jeandre somehow saw the connection between Nicole and Gavin long before anyone else fully understood it.
Since that moment, Jeandre has supported their relationship wholeheartedly, always offering guidance, honesty, and unwavering loyalty. Having him stand beside them on this day means more than words can truly express.
Hanno
Hanno has been Gavin’s friend since the time Gavin moved to Paarl with Nicole, and living in the same estate made it easy for their friendship to grow quickly.
From day one, Hanno and Gavin immediately got on, forming the kind of bond that comes with shared laughs, good food, and plenty of time spent together.
They often made it a tradition to go for sushi at least once a week for what they called a proper man bonding session. Hanno has always been incredibly supportive, offering honesty, friendship, and encouragement whenever it was needed.
Gavin also spotted the perfect opportunity to play matchmaker during one of Nicole’s birthdays, after Hanno had spent the entire weekend out on the water and arrived back sunburnt from head to toe. When Hanno turned as red as a tomato, Gavin very casually suggested that Samantha help him with the aftersun.
And well, the rest is history. Today they are together with a beautiful baby boy, and Gavin proudly claims that one as a definite win.
Gerhardt
Gerhardt is like a brother to Nicole, and their friendship began in the most unexpected way. He quite literally rescued her like a lost puppy on the side of the road.
Nicole was travelling alone from Polokwane to Hoedspruit Timbavati when her car started shaking badly coming down the Magoebaskloof pass and nearly rolled. She pulled over to figure out what was wrong, standing on the side of the road wondering what to do next.
Gerhardt drove past, then turned around and came back to check on her, seeing a girl alone and clearly in trouble. From the very first moment, his warm demeanor brought a sense of safety and comfort that Nicole could not ignore.
He offered to drive behind her to the next town to see if the car acted up again, and when it did, Gerhardt’s protective instincts kicked in.
He insisted that this complete stranger come to his home in the next town and that they drive very slowly to get there safely. Nicole was nervous, but something in her gut told her it was right.
When she arrived, Gerhardt’s mom came straight out and hugged Nicole as if she were her own daughter, wrapping her in comfort and care.
From that day on, a bond was formed.
Gerhardt became the fiercely protective, endlessly loving brother Nicole never knew she needed, and someone she cannot imagine her life without. And ever since that day, he has affectionately called her Wiggles, a nickname that perfectly captures the warmth and humour of their friendship.
Jacques
Jacques and Gavin first met roughly five years ago through work, where Jacques was initially Gavin’s superior. What began as a professional relationship quickly grew into something far more meaningful, built on mutual respect, guidance, and a shared sense of humour.
Over time, their connection naturally evolved into a strong friendship.
From regular sushi outings to gym sessions and many conversations in between, they found themselves spending more and more time together outside of work. Before long, Jacques had become part of a small tradition with Nicole and Gavin, joining them for their occasional butter chicken dinners, where good food was always paired with even better conversation.
Jacques has brought a great deal of positivity into both Gavin and Nicole’s lives. He is someone who carries himself with strong values, wisdom, and a calm, thoughtful approach to life. Whether offering advice, sharing a laugh, or simply being present, Jacques has always been someone they can rely on.
Over the years, what started as a workplace connection has grown into a genuine friendship, one built on respect, loyalty, and many shared memories.
Having Jacques stand beside them on this day is a reflection of the impact he has had in their lives and the friendship they deeply value.
Melni
Melni may be one of Gavin’s gaming buddies, but first and foremost, he is one of Nicole’s best friends. Nicole has known him since she was seven years old, but when she was seventeen, they truly reconnected and their wonderfully nerdy friendship began to grow into what it is today.
Melni is loyal to the core, always just a hug or a phone call away. He has been there in the quiet moments, the hard moments, and the days when Nicole simply needed to drive in silence just to breathe and reset. No matter what, Melni shows up.
He is the Hufflepuff to the Slytherin in Nicole, kind, sweet, and the type of person for whom no task is ever too much.
He is also an absolute rockstar in gaming, spending late nights playing The Isle with Nicole as raptors, often pushing through until 3am.
At this point, he is part of the furniture and comes as a complete package deal. Nicole is endlessly grateful for his steady presence, his loyalty, and the friendship that has stood the test of time.
Andreas
Andreas lives in the same estate as Gavin and Nicole. For quite some time, they would often walk past his house and see him outside, a ginger in khakis carefully tending to his beautiful gardens. At first, their interactions were simple, just polite waves in passing as they went about their days.
That all changed thanks to one of Gavin’s practical problems. Gavin needed to change the light bulbs on his vehicle, but being somewhat of a half giant, his hands simply didn’t fit into the light fittings. So, being Gavin, he decided this was the perfect opportunity to introduce himself to the neighbour who seemed like he might know a thing or two about fixing things.
He walked over and asked Andreas if he could perhaps help him with the problem. What started as a simple request for help quickly turned into a few beers, plenty of conversation, and the beginning of a great friendship.
Since then, Andreas and Gavin have shared many great moments together, from going shooting to enjoying a proper braai, always paired with their shared sense of humour. There have also been the occasional road trips that somehow end with Gavin wearing a blonde wig and enthusiastically waving at truck drivers along the way, moments that have become legendary in their own right.
Through all the laughter, adventures, and friendship, Andreas has become someone Gavin truly values. When the time came to choose the people who would stand beside him on one of the most important days of his life, Gavin knew without a doubt that he wanted Andreas there by his side.
